Our Commitment

As part of the evolving Polaris precinct, we proudly care for families, residents in aged care homes, and individuals with special needs. We are committed to growing alongside our community and providing healthcare that feels personal, compassionate, and reliable.

To make an appointment, please contact our friendly reception team on (03) 9227 3300, or book online conveniently through HealthEngine.

If you have multiple concerns or complex issues, we recommend booking a longer appointment to allow sufficient time for your doctor to address all your needs. Please speak with our reception staff if you’re unsure which appointment type is most suitable.

Urgent or emergency medical issues will always be given priority. If a delay is expected, our team will make every effort to contact you and keep you informed.

We encourage patients to book appointments in advance to minimise waiting times and ensure you can see your preferred doctor.

If your matter is non-urgent, our reception team will take a message, and your doctor will return your call when available — usually at the end of their consulting period. Alternatively, you may be asked to call back at a more suitable time.

Only emergency or urgent calls will be put through to the doctor on duty immediately.

Please note that our doctors prefer not to consult over the phone. For proper assessment and continuity of care, we encourage patients to attend the clinic in person whenever possible.

Polaris Medical Centre is a mixed billing practice. Information about our fees and services is available at reception. Polaris Medical Centre Fees 2025

Payment is required at the time of consultation. Once payment has been processed, we can provide an on-the-spot Medicare rebate directly into your nominated EFTPOS account.

We accept cash, cheque, credit card, and EFTPOS payments. For any questions or assistance, please speak with our friendly reception team.

Consultation Fees

  • Fees are payable in full at the time of consultation.

  • Procedures: An out-of-pocket cost may apply, and the amount may vary depending on the procedure.

  • No Medicare: A full private fee applies.

  • Medicare card holders: If you are not eligible for bulk billing, a co-payment (out-of-pocket fee) will apply.

Bulk Billing Eligibility

Bulk billing is available for the following groups:

  • Pension Card holders

  • Health Care Card holders

  • Veterans Affairs patients

  • Children under 16 years of age

For all other patients, private billing applies.

A follow-up appointment is required to receive and discuss any test results with your doctor. This ensures you receive appropriate medical advice and ongoing care.

For the continuing management of our patients’ health, Polaris Medical Centre uses a systematic reminder and recall system to promote health, support preventive care, and assist with the early detection of disease.

We regularly send reminder and recall notifications for services such as immunisations, cervical screening tests (Pap smears), and abnormal test results. Our practice also participates in national and state health registers to support preventive health programs, such as immunisation and cervical screening.

If you do not wish to receive recall or reminder letters or prefer not to have your information shared with national health registers, please inform your doctor or our reception team so this can be documented in your medical file.

If you are referred for tests or to a specialist/health care professional, you may incur out of pocket expenses. Please ask at reception if you have any queries.

After hours, National Home Doctor Service (NHDS) provides care. Telephone 137425. If required, the deputising service will visit you at home. This service is bulk billed.

Please make an appointment with your doctor to discuss the results of any tests you have had performed. For your safety and confidentiality, test results cannot be provided over the phone.

Our practice will only contact you if your test results require urgent follow-up or immediate attention.

To ensure we can reach you when necessary, please make sure your contact details are up to date with our reception team.

All patient consultations and medical records are kept strictly private and confidential. We require consent from you to release any details of your medical records to family members, employer, insurance companies, solicitors or government departments. We require a signed written consent form for transferring medical records to another practice. This must come from the practice you are intending to move to.

Translating and interpreting service is available upon request, however, 24 hours’ notice is required before your appointment. Please inform the receptionist if you require this service.

At Polaris Medical Centre, we value our patients’ time and strive to provide timely access to appointments for everyone. When an appointment is missed or not cancelled in advance, it prevents another patient from being seen.

If you do not attend your appointment or fail to provide at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule, a Did Not Attend (DNA) fee OF $50 will apply. This fee is not claimable through Medicare and must be paid before any future appointments can be booked.

We understand that unexpected circumstances can occur — if this happens, please contact our reception team as soon as possible so we can assist you.

Polaris Medical Centre is proud to be a teaching and training facility for Melbourne University medical students and APNA nursing students.

As part of our commitment to excellence in healthcare, we actively support the education and development of the next generation of health professionals. Under the supervision of our experienced doctors and nurses, students may observe or assist in patient care as part of their clinical training.

We are grateful to our patients for contributing to this important learning experience. Your cooperation helps ensure a strong, skilled, and compassionate healthcare workforce for the future.

If you prefer not to have a student present during your consultation, please let our reception staff know — your choice will always be respected.

Polaris Medical Centre is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all patients, doctors, and staff.

Abusive, aggressive, or threatening behaviour towards our team will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Any patient engaging in such behaviour will be asked to leave the premises and may be discharged from the practice.

We thank all patients for treating our staff and clinicians with courtesy and respect.
